FAMILY & CULTURAL CONNECTIONS

Our Family & Cultural Connections Programs includes bringing the Warner family together in a space where we commemorate, celebrate and preserve knowledge and tradition through yarning, sharing stories and learning from Elders and knowledge holders.

  • In 2025, a QGC grant was secured to contribute towards funding the Warner Family gathering at Chinchilla RSL in November 2025.  Being close to Armistice Day, we commemorated family who served in World War I and World War II.

  • The Warner Family gathered at Chinchilla in November 2024 to commemorate John Warner's partner, Elizabeth Carlisle, known to the family as Granny Warner.  A headstone was installed for Granny Warner at the Chinchilla Monumental Cemetery.

  • The Warner Family reunion was held in July 2023 at Chinchilla. This gathering connected family, some who had never met each other or reconnecting relatives after many decades. Family ancestors were honoured by having headstones installed for the children of John Warner and Granny Warner who are interred in the Chinchilla Pioneer Cemetery. Family also attended the community's NAIDOC activities.

Native title and heritage continues to be investigated which includes obtaining anthropologic genealogy reports and legal consultation in relation to Native Title matters.
